Is there a minimum/maximum number of students to participate?

For our virtual Kambia classes, we require a minimum of 5 students to participate. We can accommodate groups as large as needed. All students need to be working together on the common project of the program (these are not individual student projects or internships).

What student levels are these courses appropriate for?

We can scale the learning experiences in our programs to accommodate all different levels of students from entering undergrad to graduate courses.

Does it cost anything to participate?

Our virtual classes are priced according to the number of students and the number of sessions. Many of our colleges and universities source funding through their home institution or offset the cost as a resource fee for students to pay individually. We have created a resource that outlines helpful language to approach your home institution for funding. Kambia does have scholarships available for classes please book a call to learn more.

Our in-person classes vary per student and the cost depends on the country of choice, number of students, and length of time the students will be participating. Cost includes all ground transport, lodging, staff, insurance, and programmatic elements.

Is there required length of time for the projects?

Our virtual modules are designed to meet the needs of a variety of class schedules, from a Winter Break, the first or second half of a semester, a full semester, or variable summer sessions. The standard virtual meeting time is two hours in length, which allows adequate time for students to engage with community members or individuals. We will work with you to accommodate days of the week and individual session meeting times.

Our in-person travel projects begin at five days as a minimum and can extend to two weeks in duration.

What other support is provided for my class?

We provide a bilingual, on-the-ground session coordinator who will facilitate each virtual session with your students. A translator is provided in each virtual session in which students engage with community members. All program materials are provided to students and we provide all class virtual scheduling and all scheduling for all student meetings with community members or individuals.

Is this safe?

The safety of participants is Kambia’s number one priority and is the single most important consideration when entering a community or choosing a project. Each country that Kambia serves in has implemented safety protocols and policies to decrease any risk of danger and to ensure that any emergency can be properly handled in a prompt and professional manner. For more information on safety precautions, emergency procedures and insurance information, please visit the Safety and Insurance section on our parent organization, Global Brigades’, website.
